Realizing What's More Important

So in case you have been reading all my blogs till date, which I hope you would have, you might be aware that I pretty well ain't good with the introduction part and all.
So cutting the chase because none of us have all the time in the world either for this.

So a huge part of my daily schedule includes sitting on a couch like a potato, watching tv, scrolling through dozens of apps, having short-talks with people I call friends and simply "procrastinating".
Up till the last week, I was probably still doing the same until a lot of events happened in my life. These are not some major, grand events but little sequences which cumulatively made a big impact on me.
So a part of my procrastinating chores include sitting glued to the tv and watching an extremely famous game show called KBC aka 'Kaun Banega Crorepati'.  I know you all might be wondering that who sees that show, it's monotonous too maybe. But there are two huge reasons why I watch it :
1. Obviously Gk.
2. You know where you stand and there is a world beyond your world.

So the recent episode which guest starred, Sarbani Das Gupta accompanied by Ayushmann Khurana.
The only one video which I'll be linking here was enough for everyone's heart to melt. The way Sarbani Ma'am describes a mentally affected person and the perception she has towards all of them makes you feel like you are missing a lot on life and the fact that the world needs you now more than it ever will.

Here's the video -> A Helping Hand

This was followed by another event wherein a bunch of people belonging from the co-operative society where I reside at decided to distribute sugar at an extremely low price on account of the onset of Diwali. I thought its a bright, hot Sunday afternoon so not many people will show up but much to my surprises there were more than 100 people who had arrived an hour early than the time allotted. The plight of so many people struggling and making ends meet in this scorching heat warmed my heart. All I could think of is do they really need to do this?

Another following day, another KBC episode, we witnessed the plight of a farmer from Maharashtra. This poor Indian who cannot even have two meals of a day but still struggles so that we have enough to gorge on after we come home from a long day. The human who belongs to a group who would attempt suicide if they don't have enough money, who lend ornaments just so they can grow crops.

The 'annadatta' who we no longer respect or value. Each morsel we eat, we are so grateful to them. Like we have debts on them which they don't demand.

This is Anantkumar Khanke. The person who works hard so that you have food in your plate.
He literally cried in front of the circumstances that life throws him but still manages to stand strong so that we don't sleep hungry!!!!!!

He does not even have electricity for more than 2 hours and yet manages to come till KBC.

And as a country how do we repay the people who work so hard for us, who provide us services so that we can breathe, feel safe and not die due to hunger.

We don't give them enough money but we shall take money in the form of taxes, we shall rob the Indian citizens and what should we use the money on?
Well, filling pockets of politicians is so yesterday, we build statues out of it. Statues we hope shall give a boost to tourism. Statues which shall divert the visitors' attention from thinking about India as a poverty-stricken country.

Since diverting attention is better than solving problems and helping the poor right?

Wahh, here's to 'ache din'.

THIS MADNESS HAS TO STOP.
We have to realize what's important. We have to create awareness about the vitals and not go in flow with the others' choices.

How do you do this?

1. Contribute.
It does not have to be something huge or money always. Do what you can. Lend someone a smile. Lend someone a hand. Lend someone some money. Lend someone your knowledge. Lend or give what you own. Give what you don't need anymore but might be of value to someone else. Volunteer for charity or work which requires help. We have hundreds of NGOs which need volunteers or donations. Go do that.

I have said this already, I'll say it again.

THE WORLD NEEDS YOU NOW MORE THAN EVER.
